On 9-29-2023 at 2:26 a.m., UPD officers contacted five subjects in the Azalea Gardens who were smoking what smelled to be marihuana. One of the subjects was found to be in possession of a marihuana cigarette. That subject was issued a Class B summons for possession of marihuana.
Wednesday September 27, 2023 – Thursday September 28, 2023
On 9-27-2023, UPD officers responded to Steen Hall in reference to a disturbance. Officers learned that five individuals were involved. The disturbance was both verbal and physical. One subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail without incident.
On 9-27-2023, UPD officers contacted a suspicious vehicle on the top floor of the Village Parking Garage. Officers approached the driver side window and smelled a strong odor of marihuana coming from inside the vehicle. The vehicle was occupied by two subjects that were found to be in possession of marihuana. This incident is under investigation. There is one suspect and one person of interest.
Monday September 25, 2023 – Wednesday September 27, 2023
On 9-26-2023, UPD officers responded to Lot 47 in reference to a reckless driver. Upon arrival officers learned a vehicle had struck a pole in Lot 47 and left the scene. Witnesses gave the officers a license plate number of the suspect vehicle and officers went to the registered owner’s residence and contacted the driver. This incident is still under investigation and charges are pending on the driver.
On 9-26-2023, UPD officers responded to Steen Hall in reference to a fight in progress. Upon arrival officers contacted a complainant who stated she had got into a physical altercation with three suspects. This incident is under investigation. There are three suspects.
Friday September 22, 2023 – Monday September 25, 2023
On 9-22-2023, UPD officers responded to the police department to meet with a complainant in reference to a hit and run. The complainant advised between 9-21-2023 and 9-22-2023 her vehicle was damaged while parked in Lot 46. There are no suspects.
On 9-22-2023, UPD officers responded to the police department to meet with a complainant in reference to a hit and run. The complainant advised on 9-21-2023 her vehicle was damaged while parked in Lot 40. There are no suspects.
On 9-24-2023, UPD officers observed two SFA golf carts traveling south on University Drive. Officers lost sight of the carts but later located them abandoned in a parking lot in the 1400 block of University Drive. The carts were returned to SFA. Officers completed a unauthorized use of a motor vehicle report, this incident is under investigation. There are three suspects.

On 9-20-2023, UPD responded to Lot 46 to meet with a complainant in reference to a burglary of a vehicle. The complainant stated that between 9-19-2023 and 9-20-2023 someone made entry into her unlocked vehicle and removed her property. There are no suspects.
Tuesday September 19, 2023 – Wednesday September 20, 2023
On 9-19-2023, a UPD officer responded to the Hall 20 parking lot in reference to a burglary of a vehicle. The complainant advised that between 9-18-2023 and 9-19-2023 someone entered into her unlocked vehicle and stole her purse that was in the front passenger seat. There are no suspects.

On 9-15-2023, UPD responded to the SFA Coliseum in reference to a burglary of a building. The complainant advised that between 9-14-2023 and 9-15-2023 the suspect(s) forced entry into the concession stand at the coliseum and removed food items. This incident is under investigation.
On 9-16-2023, an officer responded to UPD to telephone a complainant in reference to an assault. The officer spoke with the victim who stated on 9-15-2023 he was assaulted by two known Hispanic males in front of the library. This incident is under investigation.

On 9-12-2023, a UPD officer responded to Lot 43 in reference to a hit and run. The complainant advised that on 9-12-2023 their unattended vehicle was damaged while parked in Lot 43. There are no suspects.
On 9-12-2023, a UPD officer responded to the Athletic Coliseum in reference to a burglary. The complainant advised that on 9-12-2023 he contacted three individuals inside the coliseum that admitted to entering rooms inside the coliseum and removing property belonging to SFA. These individuals also admitted to the complainant that they were responsible for burglaries in the city of Nacogdoches as well. The three individuals were gone on officer’s arrival. This incident is under investigation.
Monday September 11, 2023 – Tuesday September 12, 2023
On 9-8-2023, a UPD officer contacted a suspicious vehicle in Lot 42. The officer smelled burnt marihuana coming from inside the vehicle and the driver and occupants admitted to smoking marihuana. A search was conducted by the officers which resulted in a small amount of marihuana located inside the vehicle. The driver was issued a class B summons for possession of marihuana and released.

Thursday September 7, 2023 – Friday September 8, 2023
On 9-8-2023, a UPD officer was traveling on North Street and noticed a male subject standing at the intersection of North Street and West College Street. The subject was standing next to the driver side door of an occupied vehicle that was stopped at the intersection. The officer observed the subject tapping on the driver side window and pulling on the driver side door handle of the vehicle. The officer could see that the vehicle was occupied by a single female with an SFA parking permit hanging on its rear-view mirror. The officer, who was wearing an SFA police uniform and driving an unmarked police vehicle rolled his window down and yelled at the subject to stop. The male subject looked at the officer and began to walk West on West College Street. Due to heavy traffic the officer had to wait to turn around and lost sight of the subject. A few minutes later the officer located the subject on Bonita Street where he was talking to another female who was clearly trying to walk away from him. The subject then spotted the officer approaching and again left the area walking behind a residence. Other UPD officers arrived on scene and located the subject walking in the parking lot of a hotel on North Street. Officers contacted the subject who was found to be intoxicated and would not properly identify himself. The subject was placed under arrest for public intoxication and failure to identify. After being searched the subject was then transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail. Once at the jail the subject was searched again by officers who located marihuana inside his body cavity. The subject was then charged with prohibited substance/item in a correctional facility.

On 9-6-2023, UPD officers contacted a subject in Lot 46 who they knew was criminally trespassed from all SFA property. The subject was arrested for criminal trespass and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail without incident.

On 9-1-2023, a UPD officer was dispatched to 514 East Austin Street in reference to a hit and run involving an SFA vehicle. A witness at the scene stated an unattended SFA vehicle was parked when it was struck by another vehicle in a parking lot at 514 East Austin Street. The other vehicle then left the scene. There are no suspects.
