The Power of Words

Ryan Hunke, a May 2023 graduate of the Department of English and Creative Writing, is the 2023 recipient of the Marilyn Odom Outstanding Graduate Student Award. He has achieved several academic successes, including literary awards and publishing of his writing, as well as an impressive record of honors. His service to SFA spans two departments: English and military science, where he prepares student cadets for service as Army officers upon graduation from SFA. Ryan plans to pursue a doctoral degree and focus on teaching, where he can use creative writing as a means to build communities and foster inclusion.
