Natural resources, laboratories and hands-on learning
SFA’s location in the Texas Forest Country makes it the perfect place to study forestry. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to get out of the classroom and get up close and personal with native trees, plants and wildlife.
As a forestry student at SFA, you’ll also work with dedicated faculty members who share your research interests, and you’ll have access to world-class research sites and laboratories, including The Stephen F. Austin Experimental Forest, The East Texas Plant Materials Center, the Soil, Plant and Water Analysis Laboratory and the?Todd Agricultural Research Center.
Bachelor of Science in forestry, concentration in agroforestry
This concentration emphasizes the skills necessary to manage the plants, wildlife and other natural resources found in a forest.
In addition to completing core forestry coursework, agroforestry students choose electives that align with their interests and career goals, such as beef cattle science, animal nutrition, botany, silviculture, chemistry and range management.
